How this ranking is built

The ranking covers our entire catalogue, retired sets included, sorted by the piece count given by the manufacturer. Gear, books and minifigures are excluded, since they are not building sets. If you are only after what you can buy today, see the list of the largest available sets.

The largest LEGO set ever made

The piece-count record belongs to sets above 11,000 parts, and the top ten starts well above 6000. Interestingly, the largest set is not the physically biggest one: the record holders from the LEGO Art line are mosaics built from thousands of small tiles, while models such as the Titanic or the Eiffel Tower have fewer pieces but take up far more shelf space. The current order is in the ranking above.

How long does a set like this take to build

For sets above 5000 pieces you are usually looking at anywhere from a dozen to several dozen hours of building, spread across many evenings. Instructions often come in several volumes and the pieces in more than a dozen numbered bags. That is one reason the largest sets are aimed mainly at adult builders rather than children, even though the difficulty of any single step is rarely high.

The largest sets by line

Most of the big models come from three lines. Icons covers architecture and iconic objects, from the Titanic to stadiums. Star Wars in its Ultimate Collector Series form accounts for the largest ships and structures from the universe. Ninjago regularly releases sprawling cities of over 5000 pieces. LEGO Art stands apart, where the record piece count comes from the mosaic format itself.

Frequently asked questions

What is the largest LEGO set in the world?
The largest LEGO sets exceed 11,000 pieces, and the record belongs to a mosaic from the LEGO Art line. Among classic building models the front runners are the Eiffel Tower, the Titanic and the Colosseum from the Icons line, plus the largest Star Wars sets from the Ultimate Collector Series, all in the 9000 to 10,000 piece range. The full ranking with current prices is above.
How many pieces does the largest LEGO set have?
Over 11,000 pieces. For comparison, a typical large collector set sits between 3000 and 5000 pieces, and an ordinary set off the shelf rarely passes 1000.
Are the largest LEGO sets still available?
Some are, some are not. This ranking covers the whole history of the catalogue, so it includes retired models too. Every entry shows the current offer from Polish stores, and if a set is not on sale you can set an availability alert and we will message you when it returns.
How much does the largest LEGO set cost?
The largest sets usually carry catalogue prices between 1500 and 4200 PLN, and price does not track piece count directly: the licence and the size of the individual bricks matter too. Retired models can cost considerably more on the secondary market than they did at launch.
