LEGO space: rockets, shuttles and NASA rovers
LEGO space comes on two shelves: models of real NASA missions in Icons and Technic, and fantasy ships and robots in City and Creator. Preschoolers get a Duplo shuttle, and the catalogue still has classic sets from the Space theme LEGO started in 1978. Below are the sets you can buy today, cheapest first.
Real missions: NASA in Icons and Technic
The most pieces belong to Icons 10341 NASA Artemis Space Launch System: 3,601, age 18+. The same theme has 10360 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft, a Boeing 747 carrying the shuttle on its back (2,417 pieces, 18+), and 11382 Hubble Space Telescope (1,252 pieces, 18+). Technic has 42182 NASA Apollo Lunar Roving Vehicle (1,913 pieces, 18+), 42211 Lunar Outpost Moon Rover (1,082 pieces, 10+) and 42221 NASA Artemis rocket, a smaller version for kids from 9 (632 pieces).
Space for kids: City, Creator and Duplo
For a 3-year-old there is Duplo 10422 3in1 Space Shuttle Adventure (58 pieces). From 6, Creator 31134 Space Shuttle (144 pieces) and City 60430 Interstellar Spaceship (240 pieces) fit. Older kids can build City 60446 Modular Galactic Spaceship (717 pieces, 7+) or Creator 31152 Space Astronaut (647 pieces, 9+). Creator 3-in-1 sets include instructions for three different models from the same bricks, so one build can be rebuilt into the next.
