Nexo Knights is a LEGO theme from 2016-2018 that fused a medieval castle with future technology. The knights of the kingdom of Knighton fought Jestro and the Book of Monsters, and shields with NEXO Powers could be scanned in a companion app. Production ended years ago, but sets still circulate in stores and on the secondary market. The history of Nexo Knights (2016-2018)
Nexo Knights debuted in January 2016 as the successor to LEGO's classic castle themes in a completely new form: knights wear tech-powered armour and the Fortrex castle (70317) rolls on tracks. Its heroes are Clay, Lance, Aaron, Macy and Axl, supported by the digital wizard Merlok 2.0. The villain is the jester Jestro with the Book of Monsters, raising an army of lava creatures, later joined by stone colossi. The novelty was blending physical and digital play: shields with NEXO Powers could be scanned in a free app. An animated series and four waves of sets carried the theme for three years, until production ended in 2018.
Why Nexo Knights has cult status today
Nexo Knights was LEGO's last big homegrown castle theme, so knight fans have had no direct successor since. The distinctive futuristic armour and the lava-and-stone villains resemble nothing else in LEGO history. The largest sets, like the mobile fortress Fortrex (70317) or Jestro's Volcano Lair (70323), are sought after by collectors today, and complete knight minifigures with their shields can cost more than many a small set. Warehouse leftovers still show up in stores, often at surprisingly different prices.

Will LEGO bring back Nexo Knights?
LEGO has not announced a continuation of Nexo Knights. The theme ended in 2018 together with the TV series finale, and no new set has appeared since. Castle motifs return in other lines, but the world of Knighton remains closed. Sets are only available from remaining stock and the secondary market.
