LEGO for a 5-year-old: sets for the first real builds
A five-year-old can start their LEGO System adventure. Pick Creator, simpler City or Friends. We check the best sets for a 5-year-old and their prices in Polish stores.
LEGO Creator 3-in-1 sets (three models from the same bricks), simple City vehicles and Friends with popular characters work best. Look for sets rated 4+ or 5+.
Can a 5-year-old build on their own?
With a 4+ set, usually yes: the instructions are simplified, the bricks are bigger and the steps are shorter. With a 5+ set a parent's help comes in handy for the first steps, after that the child manages alone.
How many pieces should a set for a 5-year-old have?
The sweet spot is 100-250 pieces: big enough to take an hour or two, but not so large that the child gives up halfway.
