LEGO pirate ships and pirate sets
You can buy a LEGO pirate ship today in several versions: from Spidey's ship for a 4-year-old, through Creator, to Jack Sparrow's 2,862-piece ship for adults. The catalogue also has retired sets from the classic Pirates theme LEGO ran from 1989. The biggest sets are at the top of the list.
Which pirate ship to pick
The biggest is Icons 10365 Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Ship from Pirates of the Caribbean: 2,862 pieces, age 18+. Manga fans get One Piece 75639 The Going Merry Pirate Ship (1,374 pieces, 10+). Creator has 31387 Iconic Pirate Ship (1,074 pieces, 9+) and the smaller 40597 Scary Pirate Island (214 pieces, 8+). The youngest pirate gets 11208 Team Spidey Pirate Ship: 201 pieces, age 4+.
Retired ships and the classic Pirates theme
Two big recent pirate sets are retired: Ideas 21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay (2,545 pieces) and Icons 10320 Eldorado Fortress, a fortress rather than a ship (2,509 pieces). Creator 31109 Pirate Ship from 2020 (1,260 pieces, 9+), a 3-in-1 set with instructions for three models, is retired too. Older sets from the 1989-2015 Pirates theme are aftermarket only, and their prices often exceed the original retail price after all these years.
